This lovely cake tin was a Christmas present from my parents. I spotted one similar in a shop while on holiday with them, but after a quick stop for a takeaway coffee, we didn’t get chance to go back to the shop! It’s perfect for storing lots of yummy cupcakes!

I love having plants in our kitchen, it makes it feel a lot fresher and brighter. I would love to start growing some potted herbs in 2013.

This beautiful vintage camera was a a birthday present from Glenn. Unfortunately, it’s no longer in working order, but it does look just lovely on my camera shelf, next to my Polaroid, Lomography Fish Eye and Instax cameras. The cute candle was a Christmas present from my sister. It smells amazing and the cute ‘lamp’ that sits on top is perfect when watching a film on the sofa.

Charlie was bound to make it into this post somehow! He is the most beautiful cat I have ever seen and he is so cheeky, charming and naughty – but we still love him lots!

I bought Glenn this simple oil bottle for Christmas. With the added ribbon, I think it looks great next to our Kilner jars. Another addition to our kitchen was a mini bunting that Glenn bought me for Christmas. Its great at just adding a little bit of colour in an otherwise plain corner.

The best gift I received this year was my long awaited camera lens! I had saved up money to buy the body, a Canon 1100D, and I added the lens to my Christmas list. I’ve wanted to buy an DSLR again for quite a while, so I am really loving having one in my hands and taking lots of photos! I also received a lovely new bag to keep my camera safe. I definitely didn’t want the normal boring ‘tourist’ camera bag, so I had a look over at eBay, and found this bargain! It’s big enough to hold my camera and the lens, with room to fit my phone and purse in, but not too big that you feel like you are carrying a holdall!

My recent purchase from Topshop, with a Christmas gift card and a beautiful print, framed and gifted to us by Glenn’s mum.

I’m a sucker for a pretty piece of stationary, so when I found out that Frankie magazine sell a journal each year, I knew I had to have it. I tried to buy it last year but they sold out super quick, so as soon as I could, I asked for the 2013 one for Christmas! It has the prettiest illustrations, budget and lists pages and stickers – amazing!

Cute tin for my perfumes! The amount of times I have knocked over my perfume bottles (and Charlie too!) meant I have been searching for the perfect way to store them – and when I received this cute tin for my birthday, I knew straight away what I would be using it for!

Even though I work in a coffee shop, there is nothing I love more than coming home, sitting on the sofa and having a coffee made from my Tassimo machine with a biscuit or two!

A selection of rings that I am loving at the moment! The jewel owl ring was sent to me from Your Fashion Jewellery. It’s so beautiful and it looks great as a feature piece of jewellery.

My main New Years resolution was to start treating my skin a little better! I’ve started using a blackhead cleanser, which makes my skin so clean and soft, followed by a soothing toner and a hydrating moisturiser, along with cleansing wipes. I’m trying to do it every morning and night, so hopefully I can keep it up!
So, my bedroom is finished! All my clothes are stored, all my jewellery had been sorted and organised and my new dressing table and stool has been painted and made to look beautiful by my wonderful Glenny. Here’s a sneak peak inside and you can find an interview I did with Layezee, about my bedroom, who sell lots of lovely bedroom furniture and bedding!

Hello! I am back from my holiday (a post with lots of pictures is coming very soon!) in Tunisia, where I got the first tan I have ever had! With 6 days to go until moving-in day, all things ‘homely’ are right at the top of my list at the moment! We bought a sofa and a dressing table today, which will be a little project in making it a little more ‘me’ with some white paint and a bit of sand paper! Today, I’m thinking about the kitchen. I want our kitchen to be colourful and inviting and make it a place that feels homely and inspiring when we are cooking. Colour isn’t something I embrace a lot in fashion, especially bright or clashing colours, so I thought it would be fun to use it in our new house instead, even if the colours are a softer shade than all this neon colour that is popular at the moment!

My main colours that have come together to make the colour palette is blush rose, steel blue and aquamarine, but really, any hint of colour goes!
I’m a little obsessed with polka dots, as you can see from my chosen set of cutlery from Tesco and the three gorgeous heart shaped dishes over on Not On The High Street. I can just imagine coming home from a hard day and using these to put a smile on my face – it really is the small things!
We have already purchased the chalkboard memo board from The Range – myself and Glenn are both very forgetful so leaving notes to remind each other about everything is essential! We also have the oven glove, which also had matching tea towels, and the mason jars. These came from Argos and I have some chalkboard paint, which I want to paint a splodge of onto each one (we have 4) and then write the names for coffee, tea, sugar and hot chocolate!
This cake stand took my fancy which is from Not On The High Street, but I have inherited a whole tea set from my Nanna, which is currently in my parents loft, so I think it’s time it got used and loved!
Finally, this butter dish made my heart melt! Cute, colourful illustrations always win me over and this would be perfect on the counter.
What do you love about your kitchen and what have you bought for it recently?
This time next month, we will be packing up our things and moving out of our small flat in Southampton, into our new 2 bedroom house! As myself and Glenn have now both finished our degrees, we decided to move a little closer to home and a little closer to Exeter, which is where Glenn will continue studying to become a primary school teacher! I’m very excited to be moving back to Somerset, near to my family and friends and back to fields and tractors (OK maybe not tractors, they make getting anywhere a nightmare!), but the things I am most looking forward to is having more space. At present, we live in a small flat which is one of 4 that were made from a terraced house. We have a living room and kitchenette, and a bedroom, which has a tiny room with the toilet and shower in – it’s so small, the sink is in our bedroom! It really has been perfect for us over the last three years, being near to our Univeristy, the train station and much cheaper than staying in halls, but we both feel we have definitely outgrown it and we are looking forward to having a a bigger and extra bedroom, a garden, a separate kitchen and a driveway and garage! As you can image, my head has been filled with lots of ideas and plans for our house, and I can’t wait to start implementing them and making it into our home!
We collect the keys on the 1st of June, and officially move in on the 25th, so it means I have a while before I can go into interior designer mode and run riot around the rooms, but until then, I want to share with you my ideas and inspirations for each room in the house, and maybe it can inspire you to add a little something to one of your rooms!
First up is this bedroom. At the moment, our bedroom is crammed – a double bed, bedside table, chest of drawers, bookcase and then the sink are all squeezed into a tiny space, leaving not much room for walking let alone relaxing, reading a book and doing my hair and makeup! In our new house, we have a spacious room with a large window that lets in lots of sunlight and looks out onto the garden. Luckily, myself and Glenn have similar tastes when it comes to interiors, and so ‘Shabby Chic’ was a trend we were inevitably going to go with!

Our colour scheme is made up of a base colour, which will be a light grey and two accent colours which will be rose and mint green. I wanted to keep the room light and airy and I think these colours will do that without it looking too boring.
The image of the bunting and the empty frames is actually from my bedroom as the moment. I bought all three from Urban Outfitters and they also have a mint green frame, which I’m going to have to buy at some point!
I found the Instax frame how-to over on this blog. I want to make mine with a white frame, small wooden pegs and bakers twine, which you can get in different colors here.
I am desperate to have a small dressing table in my bedroom, with a small mirror and lots of space to have all my accessories, makeup and perfume out. I have so many bits and bobs that I never use because I can’t see them! You can buy this one from here.
As soon as I saw this rose print duvet set from Argos, I reserved it and picked it up the very next day! It’s beautiful and fits perfectly with the colour scheme.
The wardrobe and bedside table are from the Aspelund range from IKEA. I admit, IKEA has always been one of those brands that I thought was expensive but bad quality, but I was pleasantly surprised when we made a visit the other day, and I fell in love with the white-wash effect and the little details at the bottom. I wanted furniture that would look amazing but not be too overpowering and this set does just that!
It wouldn’t be a bedroom if it didn’t have some kind of pretty fairy lights and these rose effect ones are perfect for adding that little bit of luxury. They fit with the colour scheme and also reflect the pattern on the duvet set!
Finally, my love for film cameras is something that has grown over the last few years and I have now have a very small collection, which I want to show off and not keep hidden away in a bag somewhere! I plan to display them on a small shelf, near to my display of Instax images.
What do you want to do in your bedroom? Are you decorating at the moment? What is your favourite part of your bedroom? Let me know!
Last week I told you about my visit to The Range. I fell in love with lots of interior decorations they sell there and came away with two pieces! First up, a cute tea light holder. It hangs on a long chain so you can hang it from the ceiling or just pop it onto a table!
We decided to use the chain and hang it from our ceiling in our bedroom. I love the little butterflies and the ornate scallop style finish. I’m not sure I will be using it for its actual purpose, but it looks so pretty!

And the other purchase was an ornamental bird cage!

It’s similar to the tea light holder, with the creamy vintage style. I’ve always wanted one of these and when I saw it for about £15, I snapped it up! We have hung it above our bed and it looks so pretty against my bunting in the background!

I love them!
